I think some ideal jobs for a student would include working in a library. You would most likely be able to study while on the job, and if you need books for a paper–well, you’re surrounded by them.
Restaurants would also be good. You can make a lot of money as a server (tips=instant gratification). You would most like be working evenings, so your class schedule wouldn’t be affected. If you’re like me and don’t like the idea of running around for hours and like to dress nice, you could always be a host/ess.
Check the jobs listing for your school, they may have work available. It’s actually a good idea to get in with your school, they often pay well, and you’ll have an in if you ever decide you want to work full time.
But, all you can do is check classifieds–be careful of Craigslist, though, you don’t always know if a job posting is real or if they just want to steal your info. If there is a place you would like to work, check their website if they have one.
If you are planning on staying in town through the summer, you may want to point that out the potential employers. Some don’t want to hire people who will be leaving for a big chunk of the year.
