We’ve all been there. You wait all year for summer to come along and 1 month after it starts your bored out of your mind. Yes, we’ve already been to the mall more times than we’d like to remember. And yes, the movie theater ushers know us by name from all the movies we’ve gone to see (Harry Potter FTW!).
So this begs the question "Now what?" Well, here’s a few things that keep myself entertained during those long, hot summer days. You can try them out for yourself, or come up with some of your own
1. I like the beach. I REALLY like the beach. So when I go I bring a good book to read on the sand and i can spend hours there ^^
2. Local Fairs (aka community support and entertainment) rock! Lots of fairs have local bands show off their musical talents, so you may just find your new favorite song or group. Even arts-and-craft fairs have a lot to offer. Many have new, unique designs for jewelry, clothing, and actually almost anything you can think off. Then there’s the food. Oh, how I love the local food (enough said).
3. State Parks and Recreation areas. Have you ever seen the sun raise over an almost completely desolate place? Its an amazing site and you can see it at state parks! Actually you can see lots of other things there too like natural wildlife and habitats. Most parks offer canoeing, kayaking, hikes, natural trails, picnic areas (try snacking on that local food you saw at the fair!), and tours to see the plants and animals.
4. Too hot to venture outdoors? Invite some friends over and play some games
I, personally, recommend Apples to Apples. It’s a popular game nation wide, and possibly the most hilarious trivia-type game ever created (well maybe not but it comes pretty close). Yes, even bored games can be fun if you have friends with you.
5. Try volunteering in your extra time. Local parks and towns are always looking for people to help out. Try planting flowers, participating in a local fair or event, distribute flyers etc. You’ll have new and interesting to do AND be getting service hours for it at the same time
I can keep going on about things to do during the summer, but I’m short on time and so I’ll leave the rest of this list to YOUR creativity. In my opinion, pretty much anything can be enjoyable if your with your friends. So when you come up with your own ideas, have some friends tag along!
We still have half of the summer left, ENJOY IT!
