Don’t freak out about it. It’s really difficult to study for the ACT, because it only tests your general knowledge– the test changes every year. If you would like to, look over the ACT Prep books. They do a good job of refining your test taking skills, and serve as a good remiedial course for all the general topics that the ACT covers.

Get good sleep, have a good breakfast, and go into the test focused and prepared. I had most trouble on the Science portion because I was burnt out, and ran out of time. You need to be able to maintain composure and a steady rate while you are taking the test or you may lose track of time.

Wear a watch, it will help.

Answer the questions you know first. Don’t waste your time on a problem you don’t know the answer to when you could be answering the ones you’re certain about. This is particularily helpful in the Math section, because the test does have a lot of Trigonometry that a lot of high school juniors may not have been exposed to.

My best advice, however, if the first little bit I told you. DON’T FREAK OUT. Yes, it is an important test, but you can take it however many times you like. if you aren’t happy with your first score, just take it again. It’s not worth losing sleep over throughout the entire week then coming to test day exhausted and stressed.

Good luck to you, ACT testing can be a very traumatic time for some; however, if you go about it the right way, you’ll breeze right through it.
