I’ve noticed more and more that upperclassmen are letting out their fears about graduating from HS. I can totally relate to what people are experiencing.
It’s hard growing up and moving on. High school is totally different from college. There are no teachers who’ll coddle you and allow extensions on your work. It’s a whole new ballgame and it’s just something that will take a lot of getting used to. There are no parents around, which makes one accountable for all that they do.
I know numerous people who plan to go crazy when it’s time to attend college. They think college is only fun and parties based on what they see on TV. Of course, it is supposed to be a fun and exciting time, but it annoys me that some people believe that’s the only thing college is. College should be about getting an education that will allow you to have a great career in the future. There’s plenty of time to have fun if you manage your time.
Though I haven’t attended college yet, I’ve talked with people who wish they could do so much stuff over that happened in college. And their stories are all the same, they didn’t take college seriously and they were so overwhelmed with the freedom they had that it ruined what they were working for.
It’s important to always know your limits and stick to them. Time management is a skill people should always have too.
A little freedom can be exciting and it’s a good thing. But, all good things are bad in excess. Going away to college means you’re responsible for yourself and that you have to make the right decisions. There’s no one to tell you what to do and you have to be the adult and do what you know is right.
