Honestly anything government related is a stable job. Or things that people constantly need done. Examples IRS, NSA, CIA, FBI, CSS, Homeland, ATF, DEA, Plumbing, Electric, Septic Cleaner, Garbage
I would look at alternative energy myself, if I was more science-minded.
