Compromising for the Sake of Sanity

As an impulsive person, it’s hard to make a decision or come to a general consensus of what to do. The biggest decision of my life so far came when May 1 rolled around. For those who don’t know, May 1 is the day when high school seniors make their final decision regarding what college to go to. It was a pretty big deal for me; I was torn between 3 schools for a while and then it came to the final 2. I had plans to leave the state, but little did I know, when you leave the state the costs are super inflated. However, if I stayed in Michigan, then I would be paying much less. I also had the option of considering whether I wanted to rack up loans to pay for a $30000 education or pay much less at a state school. But the big moment in my decision finally came when I contacted the school I wanted to go to and they couldn’t offer any assistance, but they told me to apply for more loans. It became clear to me that an education doesn’t have to be $30000 a year, especially when there are so many great in-state options to choose from. My experience has taught me to never make hasty decisions without being thoroughly informed because by doing so I ended up in a situation that could have been avoided and I could’ve saved a lot of time. It also has allowed me to value the importance of money and how accruing loads of debt would have adversely affected me. So the lesson here is, it’s ok to compromise because you can’t always have what you want. Life is full of tough decisions and you have to make the best choice.
