I’m no expert. However, I don’t think student loans automatically mess up of your credit. If you owe student loans and you make all of your payments on time, student loans can actually help build a line of credit and raise your credit score. However, if you fail to make all of your payments on time and don’t notify those who are in charge of loans, then you will face adverse effects, such as a low credit score. A low credit score can lead to a world of trouble in the future, you won’t be able to get certain things (i.e. a new house/apartment, a cell phone, or even a certain job).
If you make timely payments, student loans won’t hurt you. The trouble comes when you fail to make payments.
No, as long as you pay them back on time and such you should be fine. Like any other bill, falling behind can’t lead to good things.
