I think that’s the eternal struggle for athletes. Unfortunately, relaxation time is going to suffer, atleast it does for me. But at the same time it’s important to make sure that you have atleast some time for yourself and doing what you like.

Well, speaking as someone who does gymnastics 22 hours a week, I’d say you get great at budgeting your time. I fit my studying and homework in at practice. While I ice my aching body, I study Algebra 2. While I stretch splits, I do Government homework. Prioritize! If you’re about to fail math because you’re so dedicated to soccer, there’s something wrong. You need to figure out what’s most important, plan accordingly, and multitask like none other :)

It is very hard to do this, but making a plan or schedale can help. Sometimes you just can’t do everything at the sametime. So if your overloaded or overstressed then it is best to maybe not be as involved as you are.

It can be very difficult to balance both sports and homework at the same time, as it can leave little to no time for just pure relaxation. It’s best to go into a sport where you actually feel like you’d enjoy it, instead of doing a sport just for the sake of making yourself look good along with grades that match up to a Magna Cum Laude (3.6+ GPA). If you wish to do a sport that is fun, by all means, go for it.

Know your limits! Don’t put more on your plate than you can handle.
