It's MI Life Conference: What a day!
The first It's MI Life Conference took place Tuesday, June 29 at U-M Dearborn. There were more than 30 high school and college mentors in attendance for a day of workshops and interaction with other teens interested in life after high school.
Here are some photos from the day.

High School Horror For The Sophomore
High school sets us up to learn about the many career opportunities that are open to us and what colleges we can go to, yet there are a million questions that plague our minds that we're afraid to ask. What career should I pick? Many people are drawn to more than one career so does that mean you should let go of one of your passions or just be known as a multi tasking high school drifter, eeek the horror! I want to become a writer, but I also have singing in my heart now how do I manage to become a successful singer and writer at the same time?
A great college admissions essay
A great college admissions essay can open a lot of doors, but many students just don't know what it takes to write a good one. Do you have a successful strategy to share? Thoughts on what went right or wrong? Questions? This is the place. Michigan State student Tricia Bobeda, also a full-time journalists and an admissions expert, will give advice, help students sort things out, and answer questions. So jump in!
The Ever-So-Fun Scheduling Process
Around this time of year, we in high school (and probably college, though I wouldn't know), are presented with a list of course descriptions for next year, and told to make some selections. If you're anything like me, this probably made you really excited, but even more nervous. My dorky side (which is pretty large, I have to admit), was thrilled to be decided which fun classes to take and being in charge of my own schedule.
March 1st and Paying For College
Is it just me or is everything due March 1st?
I have had so many things that need to be turned in on March first that I'm freaking out a litte. Sure, in January, March 1st seemed decades away. But now--it's like, what a week away?
College tutition downpayments, housing fees, housing applications, AP test checks, sports forms.
My whole life comes down to March 1st! I thiink I'm going to pay at least 500 dollars on that day. And then comes Prom...
